Jason’s a writer, podcaster, and educator who Neil Gaiman once referred to as “brilliant” on Twitter. He’s produced two critically acclaimed podcasts (this one and this one), and written a memoir, essays and short fiction for notable publishers, websites and journals. He also teaches podcasting to writers in Columbia University’s Graduate School of the Arts.

From 2015-2020, Jason hosted and produced the top 15 iTunes podcast Think Again, one of iTunes’ Best Podcasts of 2015 and #2 among INC's "7 Podcasts to Help You Think Differently in 2017". A spontaneous, deep dive into art, science, and culture, Think Again surprises some of the smartest people you know with ideas they're not prepared to discuss. Past guests include David Sedaris, Neil Gaiman, Saul Williams, Margaret Atwood, Salman Rushdie, Ethan Hawke, Mary-Louise Parker, and Terry Gilliam. 

Jason spoke at the 2016 Podcast Movement conference in Chicago and hosted this live conversation with Elvis Costello and Mary-Louise Parker in Brooklyn. 

“Overthinking Everything with Jason Gots”, a blog he wrote for Big Think, grapples with the contradictions and aesthetics of contemporary life, literature and culture. His book reviews and cultural commentary have been referenced by Arianna Huffington in the Chicago Tribune, Gish Jen, Daniel Dennett, Stephen Greenblatt,  Andrew Sullivan and more. 

For Big Think, he also created the original series Tuesdays With Bill, in which Bill Nye the Science Guy answers audience questions from all over the world, including this one from Jason's son, Emre. 

Jason wrote and directed original work at the Williamstown Theater Festival, co-founded Rorshach Theatre in Washington, DC, and directed its inaugural production of Eugene O’Neill’s The Hairy Ape, which William Triplett of the Washington Post called a “raw, muscular production.” Jason was also an assistant director to Michael Kahn at The Shakespeare Theater, and to Oran Sandel at Living Stage, the social outreach arm of Arena Stage.

Jason studied acting and literature at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where he specialized in Shakespeare and experimental theater, studying under Louis Scheeder at the Classical Studio, Ron Argelander at NYU’s Experimental Theater Wing, and Therese Hayden at Circle in the Square. He holds a Master’s Degree in Eastern Classics from St. John’s College, and another in Developmental Psychology from Columbia University.
